The Year of the Surviving Historic Buildings!

As part of this year with a special theme, various packages have been developed that allow visitors to get acquainted with historic buildings such as churches, castles and residences that have been given a new function.

1-day tourist packages
The following tourist packages offer plenty of choices that include cycling, walking and travelling by boat. A visit to the Jenever Museum can be combined with a delightful lunch in a windmill restaurant or the old town hall of Schiedam. Visitors can also take the ferry back into time and visit the fortified city of Gorinchem and the castle known as Slot Loevestein. Afterwards, a wonderful 3-course dinner in a trendy restaurant.

Overnight tourist packages
These overnight tourist packages provide the chance to spend the night at a special place and also become acquainted with the many historic buildings in Zuid-Holland that have been given a new function. Visitors can make a tour by bicycle along the windmills on the pretty island of Voorne-Putten, spend the night at a campsite, visit a vineyard and cycle to the historic little city of Brielle for a visit to the Briels Museum (a former town hall). Or take a walk through the streets of Gouda for a look at the city’s many historic buildings, enjoy a high tea in the historic building that used to serve as an orphanage, and spend the night in a charming B&B in the centre of town.
