Seaside Culture
Noordwijk can distinguish itself culturally from many other seaside resorts with its qualitative, enlightened art events such as Seaside Opera, Sculpture Boulevard, the Artist’s Festival and open air theatre productions. With Seaside Culture running from the 1st May until nearly the end October, there is nearly always some cultural activity to enjoy in Noordwijk.
Noordwijk Marketing regards Culture – aside from the concepts of ‘Activity’ and ‘Relaxation’ – as one of the salient mainstays of Noordwijk. Many cultural and active events come under the umbrella of Seaside Culture. Many of these events are free:
20th May through 1st June 2009 - Seaside Opera
A Summer festival with magnificent opera, (free) open air concerts and opera dinners. The operas comprise many young vocalists, conductors and musicians.
6th June through 19th July 2009 - Sculpture Boulevard
Twenty monumental sculptures and installations by top sculptors rise up on the waterfront. An exceptional exhibition of high quality art and respected artists.
15th June through 21st June 2009 - Artist’s Festival
Around 75 professional artists from both the Netherlands and abroad will paint 750-1000 oil paintings of Dutch tableaux in just one week. The public will be directly involved: watching ‘live’ painting, and buying, as well as enjoying numerous other activities.
3rd July through 11th July 2009 - Valle Tango
Professional musicians and artists along with carefully cast amateurs will give a song, dance, poetry, theatre and video art performance. A ‘grand open air theatre’; a pageant for the ears, eyes and senses.
