Experience the new Madurodam
On 7th April 2012, the new Madurodam will open its doors to the visiting public. There is more to see, and even more to do in the new Madurodam. In this theme park, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, a miniature version of the Netherlands has been recreated at a 1:25 scale.
Experience all the highlights of the Netherlands in one interactive park
The new Madurodam is a truly interactive experience, with dozens of fun things to do in the park. Operate the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier, load containers onto a cargo ship in the port of Rotterdam, get a plane to take off from Amsterdam- Schiphol Airport, and bid to buy flowers at the flower auction.
The 'Madurodammertjes' miniature people
In the completely revamped Madurodam, the miniature city and its stories come to life. The 'Madurodammertjes' are a new addition to the park, and tell interesting stories about the Netherlands. These miniature people are dotted around throughout the park. Come face-to-face with an intruder in the Rijksmuseum, and they will tell you more about the museum, or meet a farmer's wife who will explain the inner workings of a windmill. There are dozens of other 'Madurodammertjes' waiting to tell their stories and the history of the Netherlands using the latest communication technology.
